Headshot of GCPR Student Stephanie Kaczynski Department of Communication, PhD Student

I am a Royster Fellow and a Ph.D. student in the Department of Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I began my studies at UNC in fall 2020. I teach and research in the areas of performance, cultural studies, and critical organizational communication, with an underlying transnational feminist ethic. In particular, my research examines the biopolitical and colonial relationship between mobility and the nation-state and alternate conceptualizations of community beyond formal structures. I am also pursuing UNC’s Graduate Certificate in Participatory Research. I am drawn to participatory research as a way to bridge the theory-praxis nexus and seek to learn about methods of organizing and resistance from communities already undertaking this work through their lived experiences. You can read my published work in Women & Language, Quarterly Journal of Speech, and other publications.
