Headshot of GCPR student Robert Manzo School of Information and Library Science, PhD student

Formerly a librarian, I am currently a PhD student in the School of Information and Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. I research print and online publishing spaces used by autistic self-advocates who are re-shaping public and scientific discourses about the nature and meaning of autism. This research is based in respect for historically silenced peoples whose capacity for self-definition and self-determination has been, and still is, typically denied by hegemonic discourses and institutions. I’m taking this GCPR course because I want to learn more about participatory approaches to research, which I believe are important for research on marginalized, neglected people.
